| Triptykon Streaming New Stuff |
|
Triptykon, the new band featuring former Celtic Frost frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer, is streaming two brand new songs — ‘Abyss Within My Soul’ and ‘A Thousand Lies’ — on the group's MySpace page. Both cuts will appear on Triptykon's debut album, ‘Eparistera Daimones’, which will be released in the spring through the band's own label, Prowling Death Records (home of Hellhammer and Celtic Frost). The CD was produced by Fischer and Triptykon guitarist V. Santura and was mixed at Woodshed Studio in Germany. The mastering duties were handled by Walter Schmid at his Oakland Recording studio in Winterthur, Switzerland. Although the group has so far proceeded in virtual concealment, the music for ‘Eparistera Daimones’ has been described as akin to a bleak, black ocean of heaviness, accentuated by moments of unexpected grace. Other songs tentatively set to appear on Triptykon's debut album are, among others, ‘The Prolonging’, ‘Myopic Empire’, ‘Among Veiled Spirits’, ‘Sepultus’ and ‘Goetia’. Triptykon will follow the release of ‘Eparistera Daimones’ with a number of festival appearances and a full tour. The group's onstage debut is scheduled to take place as part of the renowned Roadburn festival in April 2010. www.triptykon.net

Ronnie James Dio's wife/manager Wendy has issued the following update on the singer's ongoing fight against stomach cancer:
"Well, it has been a very exhausting month. After all the never-ending tests in Los Angeles, we flew to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and as soon as we arrived, we got a call from the MD Anderson Hospital that they had an appointment for us with the doctor we originally wanted, so we then flew to Houston to the clinic, and, of course, MORE tests, but Ronnie finished receiving his first chemo treatment on Wednesday, and all is going very well. I would like to thank Tony Martell from the T.J. Martell Foundation, Dr. Stuart Aaronson from Mount Sinai, Lindsay Brown and Mike Carden from Eagle Records, and our very own Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, for all your help in getting us into MD Anderson, and also our friends Geezer and Gloria Butler, who flew to Houston to be with Ronnie while he had his chemo.
Ronnie and I are totally overwhelmed by the amount of well wishes that we have received from friends and fans — we are reading them all. Some make us laugh, some make us cry, but all of them are so filled with love that it gives us so much support and makes Ronnie even more determined to fight this battle and win. Thank you all for the positive energy and prayers."
