I don't agree with the whole list but it is pretty solid and opens up a good debate

These lists from these kind of sites are always a damn joke. most of them are just to kiss ass, and the people that make them never seem to have an understading of what the hell they are talking about. Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, Converge, System Of A Down and Tool in the top 10? I laughed. i mean im no "hater" of these bands, but not only are some of them barely metal (musically), they are FAR from Top 50 material, let alone Top 10. And what disturbs me the most is them putting those bands in the top 10 while bands like the extremely talented Revocation and Obscura get thrown into the 40´s and 30´s. Sorry man, hardly a solid list.

I found it solid for a mass media list because it included Revocation, Obscura, Gojira,Meshuggah and others and did not pretend they did not exist. I don't agree with the order at all(my favourite song on this list is #50) and wasn't interested in the top ten but the diversity through out the entire 50 and whether we like them or not, the bands you mentioned(none of witch would make my top 1,000,000) have been at the for front of metal for the past decade. Those are the bands "the kids" listen to and it is "the kids" that by music and concert tickets. It would be extremely naive to think there would be a list that would not include them.

Lists like this are ALWAYS a joke, even if you agree with them. The main problem is it absolutely impossible to be objective when making a list like this. Whoever you are and whatever the circumstance, bias is going to come into play. Even if you try to keep personal bias out of it, the bias of whoever is paying you to make the list will enter into the fold.

And honestly, I don't care a fig about what someone else thinks is good. I only care about what I think is good, and therefore my own "list." I also do not delude myself to think that someone else would care about my list - it is all subjective and biased.
